icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Communications Specialist (External Communications) with Communications unit of Corporate Services. The appointment will be made on a Fixed-term basis for 2 years, which is renewable depending on performance and availability of funds.
Duty Station – Dhaka
Salary – Annual Tk. 13,48,820/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances with other admissible benefits.
Benefits/facilities – 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,420/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance and subsidized canteen. Job Profile
This position holder will have responsibility of managing production & inventory of corporate collateral and providing editorial and implementation support for developing and distributing effective, external-facing communication products and initiatives to improve icddr,b's external communications efforts to achieve the desired brand identity within the operational plans and strategies of Communications team and relevant organizational values and guidelines.
The specific areas of responsibilities are as follows:
- Manage production and inventory of corporate collateral: Produce and maintain a complete and consistent set of branded communication materials (e.g. brochure, booklets, factsheets, folders, notepads, newsletters, media kit and videos for social media) in stock at all times for the external audience such as guests, visitors and journalists, in order to help the communications team effectively deliver the overall brand identity through products that are of high quality content and exceptional design, as well as aligned with icddr,b's integrated communications.
- Writing and copy editing: Research and write stories as assigned for the website and other external communications products/channels, including to funders and donors; provide copy editing support as and when required for products such as policy briefs and press releases; provide writing and editorial support to communication specialists for digital media and internal communications as well as media manager.
- Management e-newsletter: Deliver icddrb’s monthly external-facing e-newsletter, maintaining its production schedule and circulation process. Tasks include managing the editorial calendar for the e-newsletter, overseeing design, selecting images, and stories with guidance from senior managers and in line with the content criteria and the standard operating procedure of the newsletter, managing the subscriber’s database on Sales Force and testing and sending out the e-newsletter using Mail Chimp.
- Manage website content: Work closely with senior managers, communications specialists and IT to upload and update site content, making sure it caters to the needs of the target audience.; ensure the quality of content and report technical problems to IT support staff; develop and maintain a house style for website content and a standard operating procedure for content uploading and updating.
- Support capacity development and implementation of strategic external communication plans: Support senior manager in implementing external communication plans for major products and channels (such as e-newsletter, launching flagship annual report, website, high profile events and campaigns); support senior manager to continually evaluate and improve external communications efforts based on success metrics and external communication best practices; identify the communication team's needs for training and refresher (such as technical and creative writing, photography, video editing); Work with core communications team to provide communication and event branding support based on requirements across the organization.
- Support implementing social media activities: Support implementing social media activities: Create, curate and re-purpose content on website, blogs and photo archives to share on social media platforms; review user generated comments and posts, especially those reaching out via direct messages, in a quick and timely manner in order to foster a positive community and add value to the icddr,b fans and followers’ experience.
Requirement
Education and Relevant Experience:
- Masters in English or Communications;
- 5 years of experience in content development, copywriting or journalism from media organizations, preferably with exposure to public health sector.
